On May 12, the North Caucasian District Military Court refused to satisfy the appeal filed by the defense of Oleksandr Kostenko, a member of the Euromaidan movement in Kiev, against the decision of the Crimean Garrison Military Court to terminate the proceedings on Kostenko’s complaint about the refusal to open a criminal case on torture by FSB officers. about this on his Facebook page Kostenko's lawyer Dmitry Sotnikov wrote .

“The judge, without further ado, said that he was refusing to satisfy my complaint, since there was no other judicial practice in Russia. It turns out that if a person is convicted, and at the same time torture was used against him during the investigation, then he is deprived of the opportunity to bring the officials who tortured him to justice,” the lawyer said.

According to Sotnikov, in response to a complaint about the refusal to initiate a criminal case, the court refers to Kostenko's verdict in the case.

Kostenko complained that after his arrest in February 2015 in Simferopol, FSB officers beat him and forced him to confess under torture. Initially, the Garrison Military Court of Crimea considered a complaint about the refusal to initiate a criminal case on torture, but the court terminated the proceedings due to the fact that allegations of torture were considered at the hearings on the criminal case of Kostenko in the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol. However, the Kiev court just did not begin to check Kostenko's statement about torture, since it considered that it had nothing to do with the charge against him.
