The ex-head of the Bank of Moscow Andrei Borodin, accused in Russia of multi-billion dollar theft, is excluded by Interpol from the list of people on the international wanted list. As Interfax reports , referring to the source familiar with the situation, the organization considered that Borodin was persecuted for political reasons.

"His data were removed from the list of people wanted with the" red corner "(a requirement for immediately arrest) in connection with the provision of political asylum in the UK," the agency’s interlocutor said.

"After the British authorities granted him the status of a refugee, the lawyers of the ex -banker appealed to the International Police Organization with a petition for the removal of an international wanted list, as a persecuted for political reasons," the source noted.

Russia requires the abolition of this decision of Interpol. "Borodin's dossier is considered in the general list of other Russians, the search for which is also terminated on the grounds that their criminal prosecution is allegedly political in nature," the agency’s interlocutor added.

The day before, it became known that the Tver District Court of Moscow arrested the Park Place estate in the county of Oxfordshire, owned by Borodin. According to investigators, real estate, which cost Borodin of 140 million pounds, was acquired by him at the funds illegally withdrawn from the Bank of Moscow.

The deal was made in 2011, when Borodin and the former first boss of the bank Dmitry Akulinin were already defendants in a criminal case of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). The Ministry of Internal Affairs opened the case on December 10, 2010, and on April 6, 2011 Borodin was put on the international wanted list.

The Park Place manor is considered the most expensive house of Great Britain outside London. The estate on an area of more than 80 hectares with a castle built almost 300 years ago previously belonged to Prince of Wales Frederick.

This is not the first arrest of real estate in the case of theft from the Bank of Moscow. In October 2012, Borodin’s property was arrested in the amount of more than $ 400 million, his funds in accounts in Swiss banks, land plots, construction objects, exclusive vehicles, as well as about 8 million shares of a bank worth more than 8 billion rubles.

On March 1, 2013, Borodin said that he received a political asylum in the UK . According to the businessman, his lawyers managed to prove to the British Ministry of Internal Affairs that the persecution of his and his colleagues in Russia had a political background. "The interests of politicians are behind this, including former President Dmitry Medvedev, who is the main initiator of all these persecution and persecution," Borodin said.

The Bank of Moscow then said that he did not have information about the receipt of Borodin asylum, but regardless of whether it is true or not, will continue to achieve the damage from the former management. The company said that it received 54 statements for a total of more than 210 billion rubles in law enforcement agencies.

The case against Borodin and his deputy Dmitry Akulinin, the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened at the end of 2010. Top managers were accused of fraud with funds from the city budget through the credit of Premier Estit CJSC, which was issued by the Bank of Moscow.
