May 15 in Ukraine is the day of memory of victims of political repression. It has been celebrated since 2004. The main events are held on the territory of the Memorial "Bykovnyansky graves" within Kyiv. This is the largest place for the secret burial of the victims of political repressions of 1937-1941.
From all over Ukraine, the political prisoners of Soviet times and relatives of the repressed, who, after declassifying the KGB archives, have been looking for information about the fate of relatives for years and sought their rehabilitation. Of course, it is impossible to establish an exact place for the burial of each person. It is generally accepted that each tree on the territory of the memorial symbolizes one deceased. According to the SBU, about 14 thousand executed by the decision of the Stalinist "doubles" and "Troy" were buried in the territory of the Bykovnyansky forest. Another 18 burial places repressed in other regions of Ukraine were installed.
