The Stavropol Regional Court convicted the platoon commander of the Stavropol branch of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Maxim Timashov, in the case of the murder of a cadet last year, reports . Interfax
According to the investigation, on June 15, 2015, in the cafeteria of the educational institution, 1st year platoon commander, senior police lieutenant Maxim Timashov, as a result of careless handling of his service weapon, shot at a freshman with a Makarov pistol. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, 20-year-old Ivan Bondarenko was on duty in the canteen that day and accidentally fell asleep. The officer decided to play a joke on his ward and put a gun to his head. Timashov believed that the weapon was not loaded, but one cartridge remained in the chamber. Bondarenko pulled his head away from the pistol, after which a shot was fired.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, where he died several days later without regaining consciousness.
Timashov was immediately removed from his position and arrested two days after the incident. Initially, a criminal case was opened against the officer for attempted murder, but in the final version, the investigation brought charges of murder for hooligan motives and abuse of power.
