The Russian national hockey team reached the semi-finals of the World Championship

The Russian national hockey team beat the Germans in the quarterfinals of the home world championship and advanced to the semifinals. There she will meet with the Finnish team.

The match with Germany ended with the score 4:1. Already in the fifth minute, the Germans took the lead, Patrick Reimer scored. Only the Russians scored further: Vadim Shipachev twice and Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Dadonov once each.

In general, the game was held with a great advantage of the Russian team: it inflicted 37 shots on the German goal. The Germans, in turn, threw only 17 times.

• In other quarterfinals of the World Cup, Finland beat Denmark (5:1), the USA was stronger than the Czech Republic (2:1; the outcome of the confrontation was decided in a shootout), and Canada beat Sweden (6:0).
