Two aircraft, including one C-130 military transport aircraft, have been sent to search for the airliner, the General Staff of the Greek Armed Forces reported. One frigate of the Greek Navy has also been sent to the area of the alleged crash. Helicopters are on the island of Karpathos, ready to fly out if the plane and people are found and a rescue operation begins. Greece has joined the search for the missing EgyptAir flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo, AP reports. According to Flightradar24, the A320 disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea, in the "triangle" between the islands of Crete, Cyprus and the coast of Egypt. The BBC recalls that before disappearing from radar screens, the plane managed to enter Egyptian airspace by about 16 km.

The plane took off from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Cairo at 23:09 local time (00:09 Moscow time), and contact with it was lost at 2:45 (3:45 Moscow time), when it was at an altitude of 11.3 km. The Al-Ahram newspaper, citing a source at the Cairo airport, reported that the last contact with the plane was 10 minutes before it disappeared. There were 66 people on board: 56 passengers, 3 security guards, 2 pilots, 5 flight attendants, said EgyptAir Vice President Ahmed Abdel. There were 30 Egyptians, 15 French, one Briton, two Iraqis, and one citizen each of Belgium, Kuwait, Sudan, Chad, Algeria, Portugal, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.
