Chiygoz is a defendant in the “February 26 Case” about clashes between supporters and opponents of Euromaidan in Crimea and is accused of organizing mass riots (part 1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code). Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi are also in custody in connection with the February 26 Case.

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is recognized as an extremist organization and banned by the decision of the Supreme Court of Crimea.
