Legislation

The bill on the “national guard” was adopted in the first reading. In its final reading, a law was adopted equating the organization of rallies to political activity. The Duma Committee proposed counting a day in a pre-trial detention center as one and a half days in a colony and two days in a colony-settlement, and a day under house arrest as half a day in a pre-trial detention center.

Detentions

For the first time, an administrative arrest was applied to a participant in walks wearing a Putin mask - for “repeated violation” of the procedure for holding public events, Roman Roslovtsev was imprisoned for 20 days . Having fined his friend Yuri Merzlov 10 thousand rubles for the same walk, the court also decided to destroy his mask and T-shirt with the inscription “I’m not afraid 212.1” (we are talking about an article of the Criminal Code that punishes “repeated violations” of the procedure for holding public events).

Near the White House on May 18, during single pickets, seven people were detained who spoke out in defense of dormitory residents, against evictions from their homes and refusals to vacate dilapidated buildings.

Residents of Crimeawere denied permission to hold events on May 18, the anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars. In Bakhchisarai, Sudak and the village of Lgovskoye in Crimea, participants in a motor rally dedicated to the memory of the victims of deportation were detained on this day. It is known that four detainees were assigned to compulsory labor.

In Novosibirsk, anarchist Vladislav Sokolik was detained on May 18 at his home by unknown persons; he is accused of beating someone. The next day, Sokolik’s comrades, who reported his detention,were threatened by people who introduced themselves as FSB officers.

Criminal prosecutions

A new case has been opened against Alexei Navalny: a former employee of the investigation department of the Moscow Main Internal Affairs Directorate, Pavel Karpov, who was in charge of the case of Sergei Magnitsky, accused Navalny of libel because of four videos in which he is accused of the murder of Magnitsky.

Bolotnaya Case news: Yaroslav Nikitenko, a key witness in the case of Dmitry Buchenkov, was not allowed to make changes to the interrogation protocol, Maxim Panfilov was left in custody .

The arrest period for Sergei Akhmetov, accused of disrupting a policeman's shoulder strap at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny, has been extended : Akhmetov claims that he was not at the rally, and photographs of the “criminal” from the scene of events do not look very much like him.

Artist Pyotr Pavlensky was released from punishment for the “Freedom” rally in St. Petersburg, in which participants burned tires near the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. (The trial in the case of the “Threat” action with the arson of the door of the FSB building has just begun.)

Center “E” did not find any signs of extremism in the videos of Kursk MP Olga Li criticizing judges and Putin, which became the reason for opening a criminal case.

The leader of the Russian Astrakhan movement, Igor Stenin, was sentenced to two years in a penal colony. The reason was a post in support of Ukraine with a call to destroy the “Kremlin occupiers.”

A jury in Grozny found guilty Ukrainians Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh, accused of killing Russian soldiers in the Chechen capital in the mid-1990s. The defendants claim that they had never been to Chechnya before the trial, and during the investigation they were subjected to severe torture. Klykh, according to the jury, deserves leniency.

Other types of persecution

A resident of Chechnya, Ramazan Dzhalaldinov, whose house was burned after a video message to Putin with a complaint against Kadyrov, was tried to be kidnapped in Dagestan, and his native village in Chechnya was cordoned off : residents were demanded to give up Dzhalaldinov’s whereabouts.

Artist Pyotr Pavlensky was beaten in the Moscow City Court. Alexei Navalny and his companions were attacked in Anapa by people dressed as Cossacks, and Dozhd presenter Artem Torchinsky was injured. The head of the Progress Party branch in Vologda, Evgeniy Domozhirov, was also attacked : he was shot from a traumatic pistol near the kindergarten building.

In Yekaterinburg, a student was questioned for the second time by the investigative department because of someone else’s comment on the Internet regarding the cancellation of Marilyn Manson’s concert in 2014: the comment consists of interjections, a large number of question and exclamation marks, as well as the words “Orthodox” and “scum” .

Major Fyodor Obyedkov, dismissed for refusing to detain defenders of the Moscow Druzhba Park, filed a complaint with the Moscow City Court.

In the southwest of Moscow , mailboxes were opened in several houses and correspondence was confiscated in search of compromising material on the United Russia deputy.
