Prosecutors returned the case of 74-year-old writer Halim to investigators

The prosecutor of Tatarstan, Ildus Nafikov, returned to the first department for the investigation of especially important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the republic the criminal case against the 74-year-old Tatar poet and playwright Aidar Khalim (Boris Khalitmov), who is accused of inciting hatred on the basis of nationality (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code RF). This was reported to OVD-Info on May 24 by the lawyer of the writer Rushan Kamalova. According to her, she received a corresponding letter from Ildar Ismagilov, head of the department for supervision over the implementation of laws on federal security, interethnic relations, countering extremism and terrorism, of the republican prosecutor's office.

In the complaint, the defense asked to return the case to the investigators.

“In it (in the complaint, - OVD-Info ), we explained in detail that the writer had no intent to insult any nationality or incite hatred,” the lawyer said.

The Investigative Committee finished investigating the case in April. The writer, according to law enforcement agencies, during his speech on April 11, 2014 at the rally “To the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Kazan who fell in 1552” on the square opposite the building of the National Cultural Center “Kazan”, made overly emotional statements to the address of “a group of persons singled out for signs of nationality (Russians)" with a mention of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
