The complaint is communicated under the articles: prohibition of torture (art. 3), the right to liberty and security of person (art. 5), the right to a fair trial (art. 6) and the right to freedom of assembly and association (art. 11 of the Convention). Until September 22, Russia must provide a response.
On December 4, 2011 elections to the State Duma were held. The following day, the complainants took part in an agreed rally at Chistye Prudy. After the rally, the protesters were arrested without good reason. Later, the detainees were found guilty of disobeying the lawful order of a police officer and were fined or arrested for 15 days. Some applicants complain about being subjected to torture in the form of appalling conditions during their transfer to the police departments and living conditions of arrest.
