Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, sentenced in Russia to 22 years in prison on charges of murdering Russian journalists in Ukraine, flew from Rostov-on-Don to Kyiv on May 25. This was reported by Reuters, citing a source close to the exchange, as well as the Ukrainian agency UNN, citing an unnamed source in diplomatic circles.
Anonymous sources of Interfax reported on the morning of May 25 that a plane with Russians Yevgeny Erofeev and Alexander Alexandrov, convicted of participating in hostilities in eastern Ukraine, would soon fly from Kiev to Rostov-on-Don to exchange Russians for Savchenko. At the same time, Savchenko's lawyer Nikolai Polozov said that her defense knew nothing about the upcoming arrival of the plane for the exchange.
