She flew away

Nadezhda Savchenko is met in Kyiv as a hero. Crowds of journalists, deputies, presidential motorcade and head of state with flowers. Savchenko has a great future in Ukrainian politics: she gave her people an example of courage and dignity, being behind bars in a foreign country. The name of hope now knows, probably every Ukrainian schoolboy.

The names of Russian pear -pears Erofeev and Alexandrov, who were exchanged by the Ukrainian pilot, only know specialized officials and journalists. The president does not meet them at the airport. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation disowned them, drawing up retroactively the dismissal order. Colleagues look at the fighters askance: they say, they showed cowardice, surrendered and gave trump cards to the enemy.

Savchenko goes home with his head proudly raised. Erofeev and Aleksandrov are returning, looking down. The way they are met at home, it shows very well that for the war it began in the Donbass two years ago. For Ukraine, it has become a national liberation war that will go down in the history of the country. For the Kremlin, this massacre was nothing more than an episode in a geopolitical confrontation with the West, where people turned out to be bargaining coins. Therefore, Ukraine is fighting for the liberation of its heroes. And for Putin, the heroes in this war are those who did not come across and performed combat missions, not giving evidence of our army’s participation in the confrontation.

But the most important thing that this story showed: Ukrainians seem to have learned to truly appreciate human life. It never occurred to anyone there today to blame Savchenko of being captured. And in our tradition, nothing, unfortunately, is changing yet: "Tell me, why haven't you burned together with the tank?"
