The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko did not exclude the option in which the Russian team, due to a doping scandal, may not fall into the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. It is reported by Interfax .
“The worst scenario, I think that exists. I can’t deny him, since such statements from the President of the IOC are coming, ”said Mutko.
At the same time, the minister rejected the accusations of the systematic use of doping in Russia as in the state.
In mid -May, IOC President Thomas Bach admitted that Russia could be suspended from participation in the Olympic Games. According to him, this may happen if it is proved that there is an “organized and comprehensive doping system” in the country.
In recent months, several cases of supposedly using doping by Russian athletes have been in the public field. Among them-the use of doping winners and winners of the games in Sochi and the medalists of the 2008 Beijing Olympiad, as well as the mass use of prohibited drugs by Russian athletes, due to which the All-Russian athletics Federation was reformed. In addition, a number of Russian athletes were convicted of Meldonia prohibited since January 2016.
