Siloviki: Two Islamists were killed under Derbent

In the Derbent district of Dagestan, two Islamists were killed in a battle with the security forces. This is reported by Interfax with links to law enforcement agencies of the region.

The battle began late in the evening on Saturday in a forest belt between the auls of the Rukel and Mitagi-Casmalya, located within 10 kilometers to the southwest and the west of Derbent. One of the Mujahideen died immediately, the second tried to leave and was killed later at night during the persecution. Later, the National Anti -Terrorism Committee said that there were no losses among security forces.

The source of Interfax did not rule out that the Islamists appeared in this area to undermine the relay tower in a nearby village of Dzhalgan.

The dead are pre -identified as Abutdin Khanmagomedov and Rajab Ismailov. The 31-year-old Khanmagomedov is called the commander of the Derbent Group, which, according to the "Caucasian Knot", swore allegiance to the Islamic State in the summer of 2015. It is claimed that Mujahidean was wanted on terrorist attacks. It is reported about Ismailov that this is a young man who only recently joined the underground.

It is stated that the Khanmagomedov group is involved in the shelling of the security forces on the observation deck of the Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent in the last days of 2015, as well as to the February explosion as a traffic police in the village of Dzhemikent to the north-west of the city.

The Caucasian Knot reports that in September last year this group also made a murder of a fortuneteller in the village of Rubas, and in December - fired at firefighters in the area of ​​the village of Muzaim. The Islamists called the murder in the house of the fortuneteller the execution of the death sentence issued by the Sharia court.

On February 17-18, a few days after the incident in Dzhemkent, the security forces blew up the houses of Khanmagomedov, his wife, as well as the relatives of Ismailov. It was argued that the buildings were destroyed by explosives found during searches in these houses.
