The Ministry of Justice of Russia is preparing an unscheduled inspection of the Pskovskaya Gubernaya newspaper. This was reported by Meduza on May 30, citing Denis Kamalyagin, editor-in-chief of the publication.
Testing will begin on June 2. “Judging by the departments that will check - the tax, Rosfinmonitoring and others - this is a desire to study the sources of funding. In part, perhaps, it is possible to link the check with the upcoming elections, ”the publication quotes Kamalyagin as saying.
The reason for the check was the appeal of the chief federal inspector for the Pskov region Alexei Ustinov. According to Kamalyagin, in turn, Ustinov is guided by the complaint of a certain D. Danilov, who identified himself as the chairman of the primary trade union organization of the Russian Trade Union of Innovative and Small Enterprise Workers. Danilov writes to Ustinov that "Pskovskaya Gubernia" has been "furiously and groundlessly criticizing our President" for many years, while at the same time claiming presidential grants.
Pskovskaya Gubernia has been published since 2000. One of its founders is Lev Shlosberg, leader of the local branch of the Yabloko party. The newspaper, in particular, investigated the circumstances of the death of Pskov paratroopers in July-September 2014 in the Donbass.
