The leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, said at a briefing on Monday, May 30, that the Cabinet of Ministers and the President of Ukraine “behind the parliament’s back” allegedly concluded an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“This document is absolutely secret. I can say as the leader of the faction: I didn’t see him when he was in the project, he wasn’t discussed in our faction, there was no discussion in society. And as a consequence, we received a ready-made document, namely the commitment of the president and prime minister to the International Monetary Fund,” said the leader of Batkivshchyna (quoted by Interfax-Ukraine).

“I’m holding them in my hands, it’s really scary,” Tymoshenko added. According to her, according to the signed memorandum, Ukraine undertakes to lift the moratorium on the privatization of agricultural land, cancel the remaining benefits for domestic agricultural producers, and increase retail tariffs for electricity and gas. At the same time, according to her, the document “definitely does not” contain a clause on deoffshorization of the Ukrainian economy.

Tymoshenko emphasized that the IMF does not need these “absolutely idiotic and antisocial actions.” “The International Monetary Fund needs budget balance. I served as prime minister twice and I can say: propose balancing the budget! There is no other way - and you will have a completely different budget, and you won’t have to mock people like that,” Tymoshenko emphasized.

The leader of Batkivshchyna stated that her faction demands the publication of all documents signed with the IMF, as well as “immediately holding a public discussion in parliament with the involvement of the government and the president” (quoted from Ukrayinska Pravda ).

The leader of the Radical Party, Oleg Lyashko, also called for the document to be “immediately made public.” “My question is what right do they have to accept obligations from parliament,” he said. According to Lyashko, the obligations to the IMF were signed by the president, prime minister, head of the National Bank and the minister of finance.
