Bailiffs began demolishing the first house in a Roma settlement in the village of Plekhanovo near Tula. reports this TASS with reference to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As the agency's interlocutor said, ten houses are scheduled to be demolished on Monday. According to him, all houses were previously examined by explosives experts with a dog and utility services for safety reasons.

“Bailiffs serve orders on the execution of court decisions to the owners of residential buildings. Employees of the gas service, law enforcement agencies, energy, and utility workers are also located here,” a representative of the city administration told Interfax.

As the police noted, the local Roma population is “behaving calmly.”

At the same time, Tula News reports that the number of Gypsies in the area has increased. According to the agency, as of 7:40 Moscow time, approximately several hundred police officers had deployed to Plekhanovo. In addition, emergency vehicles and municipal special equipment arrived in the village, the agency notes.

According to a court order, 121 houses in the village must be demolished. The deadline for implementing the decision on the voluntary demolition of illegal buildings expired on April 20 .

In mid-March, riots broke out in Plekhanovo after Roma living in the village tried to illegally connect to a gas pipeline. As a result, about 400 houses in the village were left without heating. After this, clashes between the Roma and the police began, and on March 17, several hundred police and riot police were brought into Plekhanovo. Several rioters were detained.
