© Daria Pichugina / "Comedy Shelter"On June 5 and 6, the Petersburg Comedian theater will present on the stage of the Stanislavsky electric meter in Moscow the restored version of the play “Lear” directed by Konstantin Bogomolov. Petersburgers will see the performance in September 2016.
For the first time, the “shelter of the comedian” presented “Lira” in September 2011. The performance caused conflicting criticism and violent debate, and for director Konstantin Bogomolov became a turning point in creativity, making it one of the leaders of the modern author’s theater and relevant directing.
The director turned the tragedy “King Lear” into a black comedy, combining entertainment, aggressive theatricality, grotesque acting, gags and attractions with reflections on man, history and modernity. The action of the play was transferred to the USSR and Germany of 1944-1945. Along with the classic characters of the tragedy, the Prophet Zoroaster and European Ambassador Mr. Zarathustra, General Semen Mikhailovich Cornwell (Allyusia on Budyonny), writer Samuel Yakovlevich Gloucester (Allyusia on Marshak) and Dr. Luntz (in historical reality are Colonel of the KGB, the author of the ideas of punitive psychiatrics in the USSR).
“This performance is about very painful points in our history, which the director comprehends and is not afraid to show,” says Viktor Minkov, artistic director of the Comedian shelter. - The idea of renewal is joint. Suscript with Bogomolov, we decided why not to restore, since we are interested in, and the actors want and are ready to play. I think this is very relevant now. "Lear" is a certain statement, a certain manifesto of Konstantin Yuryevich and the manifesto is very strong. "
The composition of the performers, collected five years ago, remained unchanged. Rosa Khairullina, Daria Moroz, Anna Chipovskaya, Pavel Chinarev, Tatyana Bondareva, Alena Starostina, Gennady Alimpiev, Anton Moshechkov, Irina Salikova, Ulyana Fomicheva will be released onto the stage.
The performance “Lear” is the nominee of the Golden Mask National Theater Prize in the categories “Best Women's Role” (Rosa Khairullina, Victory), “The Best Play in Drama, Small Form” and “The Best Work of the Director”. Member of the RUSSIAN CASE program of the 2013 Golden Mask festival, the TheaterFormen (Hanovever) 2013, the Teort of the theatrical art forum (Minsk), as well as the “Petersburg Theater Season in Marseille” 2013, 2013.
