The authorities of St. Petersburg agreed on the conduct of a national gathering against the assignment of a bridge across the Duderhof Canal named after the first president of Chechnya Akhmat Kadyrov. According to Fontanka.ru, this was announced by the deputy of the ZASM Maxim Reznik, who was one of the applicants of the rally. According to him, the rally will be held on June 6 at 19:00 on the Marse Field.

The campaign against appropriation of the Kadyrov bridge continues on the Internet. At the moment, under the petition on the Change.org portal, more than 57 thousand people have signed up . Real signatures will continue to collect at a rally on June 6.

In parallel, the deputies sent a project to the Governor to the legal assembly legal service with a request to prevent the appearance of the Kadyrov bridge on the map of St. Petersburg. Maxim Reznik also previously called to initiate a vote of no confidence in vice-governor Vladimir Kirillov, who heads the toponymic commission, and deputy Boris Vishnevsky is ready to begin the procedure for the citywide referendum on the question of, if necessary.

At the end of May, it became known that the toponymic commission of St. Petersburg approved the name of the bridge. The corresponding recommendation will be sent to the city governor Georgy Poltavchenko.

During the secret vote, nine members of the commission at six against and two abstained spoke out of the Kadyrov bridge. At the same time, another decision was originally made: nine people supported Reznik’s proposal to postpone the consideration of the issue for additional consultations with experts. However, then one of the members of the commission, an employee of the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, Galina Nikitenko, stated that she supported the idea of ​​Reznik "under pressure."

The idea of ​​assigning to one of the city objects named after Kadyrov began to be discussed back in March. As TASS clarifies , the public organizations "Mercy" and "Nevsky Beregs", as well as the STRETIONAL RUSSIA sports movement, made such an initiative.

At the end of April, when the issue was transferred to a public plane, it was decided to postpone its consideration at least until the fall, in order to consult with Chechen fraternity and other interested parties.

However, the other day it became known that for the sake of the name of the bridge in honor of Kadyrov, an extraordinary meeting of the topographic commission was convened, and the city authorities actively convinced its members to vote for such a decision, and if they did not want to, do not come to the meeting at all.

The film director Alexander Sokurov opposed the name of the bridge. Facsimiles of his open letter to Governor Poltavchenko, written on the eve of the vote of the toponymic commission, published on his FB page the deputy of the city legislative assembly from Yabloko Boris Vishnevsky. “Until now, neither politics nor historians figured out the nature of the events that took place in Chechnya,” Sokurov wrote. “But one thing is clear: it was a rebellion against Russia.”

“I turn to you as a Russian officer, a Russian person: do everything so that this mistake in Veliky St. Petersburg would not be committed. I am sure that the mention of the name of the members of this odious family in the city that has adopted the blockade will be indignant at the residents of the city,” the document says in the final of the document.

In Moscow, Kadyrov Street has existed since 2004. It is located in a remote sleeping area of ​​South Butovo, next to the Buninsky Alley metro. At the same time, the street was illegal: according to the norms adopted in the capital, city objects cannot be named after people who died less than 10 years ago. Meanwhile, Kadyrov Street got its name only three months after the murder of President Chechnya.
