Journalists detained in Sochi

In the village of Veseloye in the Adler district of Sochi, officers of the border service of the FSB detained a group of journalists. According to Interfax with reference to the duty department of the FSB in Sochi, they were detained on the territory of the border zone.

“According to preliminary information, three people who introduced themselves as US citizens and called themselves journalists were in the border zone near the Russian-Abkhazian border without having the appropriate permission. They motivated their intention with creative plans, that they allegedly wanted to make a film, ”a source in law enforcement agencies told the publication.

According to the "Caucasian Knot", yesterday, on June 2, in the village of Veseloe, the sale of cottages put up for auction, which are the Olympic heritage fund, took place. Presumably, the editor-in-chief of the BlogSochi website Alexander Valov, journalists from the United States and their translator Dmitry Saltykovsky arrived in the city to cover this event. There were eight people in total. According to the "Caucasian Knot" referring to Valov himself, today, June 3, on Khudyakov Street, they were approached by security forces in overalls without identification marks and demanded to get into the car without explanation. According to him, now the detainees are "in the building of the border department at the Vesele-Psou post."

Also on Twitter, information appeared that a film crew of the HBO channel and journalist Dmitry Saltykovsky were detained in Adler, who is currently “arrested for 48 hours.”
