Switzerland citizens at a referendum on Sunday by the overwhelming majority of the votes rejected the idea of ​​introducing a guaranteed basic income, which, according to the initiators of the voting, was supposed to amount to 2500 francs per month (a little more than the same amount in dollars) for each adult, regardless of the size of the salary and 650 francs - for each child. It is reported by the BBC. About 77 percent of citizens opposed the introduction of income, while for - respectively, only about 23 percent.

Switzerland is the first country in the world where such a referendum passed. Supporters of the introduction of guaranteed income proved that the more labor is automated, the less places for workers remain. Opponents of such a measure insisted that the disappearance of the dependence of the income received on the work done would negatively affect society.

Most politicians did not support the idea of ​​a referendum. Not a single parliamentary party spoke in his favor. Nevertheless, the initiative group managed to collect 100 thousand signatures necessary for voting.
