The European Broadcasting Union calculated that the holding of the Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine, which received such a right after the victory of the singer Jamala, will cost 15 million euros. This information is transmitted by Inforesist with reference to the General Director of the National Television Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania.
According to him, the European broadcasting union, which owns the right to Eurovision, has already sent financial guarantees to the Ukrainian side. From there, expenses in the amount of 15 million euros were taken, but this amount is not final. Nevertheless, it is already planned to submit it for discussion of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as an indicative one to make a decision on holding a competition.
Alasania did not exclude that the European broadcasting union partially compensates for Ukraine to hold Eurovision - but after the end of the competition.
Meanwhile, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance, Alexander Danilyuk, believes that the government needs to give a sober assessment of the pluses and minuses of the Eurovision in the country - and agree to it only if the pluses are covered. According to him, the competition will cost 35.2 million euros ($ 40 million), which will become a significant damage to the Ukrainian economy.
