On the night of June 8, in a forest belt near the Irtysh highway in the Kurgan region, four young people attacked a 31-year-old German citizen who was staying for the night, the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports . In the Kurgan area, the traveler's bicycle broke down, which is why he decided to spend the night in a tent in the forest. At night, four attackers took personal belongings from the man and disappeared. According to the Investigative Committee, they threatened the foreigner with a knife and used physical violence.
“The foreigner ran out onto the road and, stopping a car passing by, asked for help with gestures. The driver called the police,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs describes what happened.
Arriving patrol officers examined the forest and detained four suspects in the area of the village of Chistoe Pole. Three of the detainees are pupils of an orphanage, another suspect is a previously convicted resident of Kurgan. Moreover, according to the Investigative Committee, all four are minor inmates of orphanages and the day before the attack they left the institution without permission.
The police returned the stolen property to the traveler. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code (robbery committed with the use of objects used as weapons).
