Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has approved the idea of creating an organization in Russia similar to DOSAAF, which existed in Soviet times (Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy). As TASS reports, test pilot Sergei Manadyshev asked the prime minister about this possibility at a meeting with employees of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.

"In general, I think it would be good if we could revive something similar to DOSAAF, and with state support. Let's think about how to organize it, we can't do it directly now. But we can look at how to do it in social areas, maybe involve party resources here," Medvedev said.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin recalled that DOSAAF exists and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.

"In general, I think, yes, we need to deal with this issue with the participation of the party. There are flying clubs, there are driver training schools," the official said. "Let's deal with this issue."

"Let's just think about what additional resources can be loaded there. Well, and, by the way, DOSAAF used to exist, including for training camps... so no one has cancelled this either. This is definitely not all being done at the expense of state programs, we need to think about how this can be solved," Medvedev concluded.
