2011. Murder of Yuri Budanov

Five years ago, on June 10, 2011, former Colonel Yuri Dmitrievich Budanov, sentenced in 2003 to 10 years in prison for the murder of Chechen girl Elza Kungayeva, was killed with six shots from a pistol in Moscow. In January 2009, he was released on parole after 8 years in prison.

Earlier, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said: "If Budanov's pardon occurs, we will find an opportunity to give him what he deserves."

IN In 2013, Magomed Suleymanov, an Islamic religious figure, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of Budanov, who, according to the investigation, was actually a native of Chechnya, Yusup Temerkhanov. Independent observers doubt the guilt of Suleymanov-Temerkhanov.
