The programmer was idle at work for six years. And then he was exposed

An American programmer, hiding under the pseudonym FiletOFish1066, told the story of his career on Reddit. He "worked" for six years doing nothing in the office, but was eventually exposed and fired. After the media noticed the post , FiletOFish1066 deleted the post and his account, but the story doesn't get any worse.

Seven years ago, the author of the publication graduated from college and got a job in a startup in California. What kind of company, he did not say. But he clarified that today it is a well-known project, where it is not easy to get a job.

In his company, FiletOFish1066 was involved in software testing, but he also had to do a little programming. But it doesn't matter: in the first eight months of his career, he automated his work so that he could do almost nothing further. And for the next six years, that's exactly what he did.

According to the hero, he came to work every day, played MMORPG, sat on Reddit, went to the gym, and that's it. For six years, according to the programmer, he worked 50 hours - and this did not bother anyone, because the necessary tests were passed as they should. FiletOFish1066 had no friends at work, so he hardly talked to anyone except his boss and the developers whose software he was testing.

But in the end, the loafer was exposed. How exactly - he does not know, but he thinks that the employees of the IT department analyzed his work in recent years and complained to the boss. FiletOFish1066 was fired with compensation equal to three months' salary.

The author of the publication claims that he received an average of 95 thousand dollars a year and in six years he managed to save 200 thousand dollars: he lives with his parents and leads a modest lifestyle. But his carefree life also had a negative side: after six years of idleness, FiletOFish1066 completely forgot how to program.

Commentators on Reddit returned the author of the publication faith in himself. Later, he announced that he intended to end his passion for MMORPGs and beer, sit down for programming lessons and get a new job. Perhaps deleting his Reddit account was also part of the plan to get him back into the working class.
