The Dagestan fighter Said Osmanov, sent in April to pre-trial detention center-1 in Elista for abuse of the Buddhist sanctuary, and later freed on bail, was repeatedly arrested in the case of extremism. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" with reference to Murad Velikhanov, an athlete's lawyer. Such a decision was made by the Elistinsky City Court.

On the night of April 2, the 22-year-old Osman, who arrived in Elista to participate in the freestyle wrestling tournament, along with other members of the Dagestan team walked around the city, releasing unflattering remarks relative to Buddhist religious architecture. Then the athlete went into one of the Buddhist sanctuaries, helped there and hit the statue of Buddha with his foot in the face . At the same time, he broadcast his actions into a personal channel on the PerisCope social network.

That same night, the locals, looking at the record, appeared to Osmanov in the hotel, pulled him out into the street and forced him to apologize for their act. The athlete was justified by the fact that he allegedly did not know that he was defiled by the monument. The police could not calm the crowd for some time. Then Osmanov was detained.

The fighting tournament was canceled, and the coach of the Dagestan team was dismissed. The Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdusamad Gamidov, who apologized for the athlete’s act, arrived in Elista urgently.

Against Osmanov, the case was opened under Part 2 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code (insulting the feelings of believers in the places of worship), which provides for up to three years of the colony. On April 4, the Elistinsky City Court arrested the athlete for two months; May 31, the term of its detention in the pre -trial detention center was extended for another month, until July 2.

As TASS reported , on June 10, the Supreme Court of Kalmykia, having examined the appeal of Osmanov’s lawyers, freed the athlete on bail 150 thousand rubles. At the same time, the court issued a private submission to the judge of the Elistine City Court and the investigator. It was noted that Osmanov imputed with the crimes of the small severity and the arrest of the athlete on such charges was unacceptable.

However, when Osmanov, after the trial, went with things from the pre -trial detention center, he was again detained. The reason was called the excitement against him in part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code (excitement of national hatred or hostility), the sanction of which is up to four years of the colony. Thus, the new composition, incriminated by Osmanov, refers to crimes of moderate gravity (in accordance with Article 15 of the Criminal Code, this is a crime for which up to five years of the colony are provided). On such a charges, the court has the right to arrest an athlete.

The New Land, with reference to Osmanov’s lawyers, reported that, along with the 282nd article, the athlete is also going to impose part 1 of Article 213 (hooliganism), which provides for up to five years of the colony. However, in the end, the investigation was limited only to an article on extremism.

The new court was suppressed on Saturday. Osmanov was again arrested until July 2 - the day to which the investigation is extended today. At the same time, the judge, in violation of the law, did not allow journalists to a meeting, and did not allow lawyers to shoot even the announcement of the decision on the video.

“The court considered all our arguments about procedural violations in connection with Osmanov’s case,” said the lawyer Velikhanov. “We do not agree with the court decision and will appeal it.”
