
Today, June 13, composer Oleg Karavaychuk died in St. Petersburg at the age of 88.

Oleg Nikolaevich Karavaychuk was born in 1927 in Kyiv, in 1945 he graduated from a music school at the Leningrad Conservatory in the piano class, in 1945-1951 he studied at the Leningrad Conservatory in the piano class (teacher Samaria Savshinsky).
Since the beginning of the 1950s, Oleg Karavaychuk worked in the cinema, the author of music for more than 150 documentary and playing films, including “Alyosha Ptitsyn has a character” (1953), “Two Captains” (1955), “Raised virgin” (1959), “City of Masters” (1965), “Short meetings” (1967), “Long wires” (1971), “Alien” Letters ”(1975),“ Marriage ”(1977),“ Dark Night ”(2001). He collaborated with Sergey Parajanov, Vasily Shukshin, Ilya Averbach, Kira Muratova, Sergey Kurekhin.
Until the early 1990s, the concerts of Oleg Karavaychuk were prohibited, the works have been withdrawn, so far many of them have not been published. The composer led a closed lifestyle, his first public performance took place in the early 1960s, and the next in the house of the actor named after K.S. Stanislavsky on Nevsky - in 1984.
In recent years, Oleg Karavaichuk participated in performances that united his music, classic and modern ballet, poetry and video. The main direction of the composer’s work was improvisation: he sat down at the piano, composing a work along the speech.
PS Farewell to Oleg Karavaychuk will be held on June 18 on the second scene of the BDT named after G.A. Tovstonogov, reports RIA Novosti .
