Putin will speak to the deputies of the State Duma

Russian President Vladimir Putin will perform in the State Duma on June 22, Kommersant reports with reference to the press secretary of President Dmitry Peskov, who did not exclude this. Before that, he came to "close" the convocation only once - November 23, 2011. The current performance, as they hope in the Duma, will help to mobilize the electorate and increase the status of the lower house before the parliamentary elections designated on September 18.

A source in the Kremlin administration said that in his speech the president will thank the State Duma deputies "for the work done, note the role of parliament in the life of the country and give parting words for the future."

The president’s visit will be held against the backdrop of a decrease in the election rating of the United Russia party, the first number of which will be Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Four months before the Duma elections, the United Russia rating in May fell by 7% immediately - from 42% (in April) to 35%, the results of the Levada Center survey showed in early June. The level of support among Russians who have already decided to vote for United Russia also showed a decrease - 53% in May against 60% in April and 65% in January. However, the speech of Vladimir Putin in the Duma for the rating of the United Russia is unlikely to "be of fundamental importance," says Lev Gudkov, director of the Levada Center.

At the same time, the participation of the Prime Minister and leader of United Russia Dmitry Medvedev in events completing the convocation of the lower house is not declared. The press secretary of the head of government Natalya Timakova told Kommersant that there was no visit to the State Duma in Medvedev’s plans - "he already thanked them (deputies) for his work when he made an annual report."

The last meeting of the sixth convocation of the State Duma will be held on June 24. It is expected that on this day the result of the work of deputies in four and a half years will summarize the speaker of the lower house Sergey Naryshkin.
