The full removal of the Russian Olympic Committee from Games in Rio is one of the possible sanctions against Moscow, which will be discussed at the meeting. As an option, the disqualification of Russian teams will be considered only in individual sports.
At the same time, the interlocutors of the publication noted that the final agenda of the meeting is claimed by the president of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, and before the start of the Olympic Summit, he may consult with Vladimir Putin. Since 2013, when Bach was elected the head of the IOC, he and Putin are connected by friendly relations.
The conduct of "Olympic summites" was initiated by Bach after his election. The participants in the meetings are a number of IOC functionaries, as well as the heads of all national Olympic committees and federations of Olympic sports, including the head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov.
