The Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko called for dissolving the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), by the decision of which the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee removed the Russian national athletics team from participating in the upcoming Games in Rio de Janeiro. “In fact, having shifted all the responsibility to the All -Russian Athletics Federation, they took off all the responsibility of themselves,” Mutko said. “This is her (IAAF. - Ed.) All should be dissolved if the president is under criminal prosecution - he is accused of receiving a bribe and hiding samples of athletes.”

The criminal case was not instituted against the current president of the Federation Sebastian COU, but against his predecessor Lamin Diack, who retired in November 2015 amid a doping scandal. Diak is a friend of Vladimir Putin.

On June 17, IAAF extended the disqualification of the All-Russian Athletics Federation , which the latter was subjected to in November 2015. This decision means the actual ban on Russian athletes to participate in the Olympics in Rio.

The next day, the IOC Executive Committee supported the decision .

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Spiegel with reference to the participants of the Olympic Summit, which will be held on June 21 in Lausanne, said that the entire Russian team can be removed from the games in Rio. Another possible option is the disqualification of Russian teams only in individual sports.

At the same time, sports functionaries noted that the final agenda of the meeting is claimed by President of the IOC Thomas Bach, and before the start of the Olympic Summit, he can consult with Vladimir Putin. Bach, like Diak, is a friend of Putin.
