Russia intends to sell 19.5 percent of Rosneft shares to companies from China and India. According to Bloomberg, referring to the information of two sources, the transaction amount will be $ 11 billion.
"Russia is looking for buyers and would prefer a joint deal with two states that are leaders in the growth of energy consumption," sources say. The transaction, the agency claims, will become a record for privatization for the country.
The material notes that Rosneft produces more oil than the American oil company Exxonmobil, and the transaction will not only bring financial benefits, but will have "geopolitical significance" for Moscow.
At the same time, as stated in the publication, "China and India publicly showed interest in the transaction to buy a share in Rosneft, but so far none of the parties has stated whether the possibility of a joint transaction is considered."
In April, the Chinese CNPC stated that she was studying the possibility of participating in the privatization of Rosneft. As RBC recalls , in May the chairman of the board of directors of CNPC Van Ilin said that CNPC is interested in buying shares, provided that the company is participated in the management of the company.
Over the past decades, China has been provided by Rosneft and other energy companies in Russia for more than $ 100 billion as loans and prepayments for deliveries.
