"Electromose in Rostokino" will present the exhibition "Automatic Soul"

On July 7, the “Electromose in Rostokino” opens the “Automatic Soul” exhibition in the Moscow Museum, dedicated to the use of the method of computer algorithms in creating works of art.

The guest of the discovery will be Andrea Andrich - a Serbian media artist, a programmer and musician, the creator of cunning computer programs, allowing us to lose music that not everyone will call melodic and extract from ordinary instruments not entirely characteristic of them.

The artist resorting to this method of computer algorithms does not create the final work, but programs the machine to generate texts, music, visual images. In some cases, the process is fully automated, in others the spectator-user has the possibility of choosing parameters, using which he becomes the co-author of the work.

In the Moscow Museum Andrich will show its program “Percussionist 's Diary), which generates percussion improvisations in Midi-format. With its help, visitors to the exhibition will be able to create works themselves. The exposition will also include other interactive and generative programs, texts, prints, sound works and videos.

“Focus of the exhibition“ Automatic Soul ”-art generators that create figurative images and music, that is, that which refers the viewer as much as possible to basic cultural experience is associated with“ real art ”and most comfortable for perception. The exhibition raises a number of issues related to the changing nature of artistic production in the era of computers and the Internet, and offers the viewer to get acquainted with modern automated ways to create a work of art, ”says the curator of the exhibition and“ Electromise in Rostokino ”, the artist Alexei Shulgin.

The exhibition will present a wide range of works created by various kinds of automatic generators: from the first musical art generator, invented by Mozart (its “musical game in the bone” will be represented in electronic form) to the projects of modern artists-the pionerator of generative art of Harold Cohen, the pioneer of the computer composition of Rudolph Zaripov, as well as Gazyra Babels, Electroboutique groups, OSTAGRAM online service and others.

The “Automatic Soul” exhibition will last until July 31.
