Roskomnadzor blocked the cloud service of Amazon S3 in Russia. This was reported by Izvestia with reference to the press secretary of the department Vadim Ampelonsky.
As the official said, such a measure was adopted at the request of the Federal Tax Service. Claims of the Federal Tax Service caused only one page of the resource on which the advertising of the online poker-room 888Poker and a link to the distribution of a computer program for playing poker online are published. The basis was the law "On the protection of children from information causing harm to their health and development." Supervision of his execution in terms of tracking sites related to gambling is entrusted to the Federal Tax Service.
RKN, continued Ampelonsky, sent a notification to Amazon with a request to delete content that caused the Federal Tax Service’s claims, but the resource administration ignored the appeal of officials. After that, it was decided to block the page.
However, notes Rambler News Service, Amazon works on the HTTPS protocol, which does not allow blocking individual pages of the resource. Therefore, in fact, access will be closed to the entire cloud service.
According to Roskomsvoboda, the Federal Tax Service Order was dated May 11, and in the register of prohibited sites Amazon S3 was included on June 21.
Amazon cloud service is used by the largest Internet services, including Twitter, the Dropbox network store, the Netflix online cinema, the global database of housing rental Airbnb. Monthly attendance of the service is 71.6 million users, of which about 21.4 million are Russian.
