Roskomnadzor blocked the Amazon S3 cloud service, where information from NetFlix, Airbnb, Twitter, Dropbox and other sites is stored. Information about the blocking appeared in the register on June 21.
Roskomnadzor representative Vadim Ampelonsky explained the blocking of the service by saying that it contained an advertisement for the 888poker poker room and a link to download an online poker game.
Previously, the Federal Tax Service sent a notification to Amazon that the service could be blocked, but there was no response.
At the end of 2015, Russia introduced amendments to Federal Law No. 244 “On state regulation of activities related to the organization and conduct of gambling,” which allow the Federal Tax Service to find sites with illegal gambling and send information about them to Roskomnadzor.
The Amazon S3 cloud service stored information from NetFlix, Airbnb, Twitter, Tumblr, Formspring, Pinterest, Dropbox and many others.
