The Moscow Region Electoral Commission has accepted the resignation of Irek Vildanov, Interfax reports. The commission's decision was made unanimously.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, reported that the chairman of the Moscow Regional Election Commission, Irek Vildanov, had written a letter of resignation.

According to Pamfilova, Vildanov was a competent chairman. "I would not at all like to accuse him of sins of which he is not guilty. This is the collective responsibility of the entire commission and the consequence of the shameless use of administrative resources by the executive authorities of the Moscow Region," said Pamfilova.

According to her, there are no candidates for the position of chairman of the commission yet.
