The Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko is ready to resign if the National Olympic team does not fall on the games in Rio de Janeiro. He stated this on the TV channel "Match TV", Interfax reports.
“I never give up responsibility, I am ready to take it on myself. I try to honestly do my work. It will be a failure for me if the team is removed, in this case I am ready to resign,” the minister said. “I am not encouraging the athletes to use doping, but if there are malfunctions, then I work wrong. I think that the share of my guilt is enough, I am ready to carry it for a complete responsibility.”
“The development of physical culture and sports, not only the sports of the highest achievements, is such a industry, whoever put it, it will resign after each world championship,” Mutko complained.
In addition, the Minister said that the Russian anti -doping laboratory can be headed by a Spanish specialist. “Yesterday I talked with the Spaniard, which we were sent, perhaps we will appoint him the director of the laboratory,” Mutko said. He recalled that at present the Russian anti -doping agency and the Moscow laboratory practically do not work. At the same time, since January, the Doping Control of Russian athletes has been carried out by the British anti-doping service, which Russia pays 32 thousand pounds monthly. “During this time, they took 3.5 thousand samples, of which there are only four positive,” Mutko said.
On June 17, IAAF extended the disqualification of the All -Russian Athletics Federation. This decision means the actual ban on the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. “Despite a certain progress, it was not possible to fulfill all the criteria, and therefore it is not possible to return the membership of the WFLA,” said IAAF President Sebastian COU at a press conference. “This is not a political decision, it was unanimously made by representatives of 26-27 countries, the politician has nothing to do with it”.
On Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee supported the IAAF decision . “Each international Federation must decide on the acceptability of the speeches of these athletes on an individual basis in order to ensure equal conditions in their sport. When deciding, the absence of positive national testing for doping should not be sufficient. This means that other reliable adequate testing systems should be taken into account in addition to the National,” the IOC said.
IOC President Thomas Bach emphasized that IAAF should make a decision on the admission of athletes of Russia and Kenya individually. "Russian athletes admitted to the games will take part in them, as members of the Russian team, the Russian Olympic Committee," Bach noted. This means that they will speak under the Russian flag.
On Thursday, Mutko said that Russia is ready to once againcheck all the candidates for the country's national team for doping before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "We are ready the entire national team - today there are potentially 400 candidates for a trip to Rio de Janeiro - we are even ready to pay additionally, they are ready to test all candidates for the trip to test total again," Mutko said. The minister emphasized that measures to counteract doping are taken in Russia on an ongoing basis.
