The doping test of the silver medalist of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Russian Apti Aukhadov, has given a positive result. This was reported on Saturday, June 25, by TASS, citing a statement by the head of the legal department of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Aleksandr Brilliantov.

"The ROC, at the request of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), received from the Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF) a signed consent for the "B" sample," Brilliantova said. "Our representatives were present at its autopsy and analysis on June 7. Unfortunately, it confirmed the positive result," she noted.

Earlier, Aukhadov's doping sample "A", taken at the 2012 Olympics in London, gave a positive result.

On Wednesday, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said it would suspend the FTAR for a year if three or more positive tests are found following retesting of Russian athletes' doping samples from the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Previously, the "B" doping samples of Marina Shainova and Nadezhda Evstyukhina, taken at the 2008 Games, had returned positive results.

Thus, Russian weightlifters may not be allowed to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Also, due to several positive doping tests, the IWF deprived the Russian team of two Olympic quotas - one each in the men's and women's teams.
