An architectural monument fell in Pskov

Today, June 28, in Pskov, the house of the leader of the nobility on Romanova Gorka, an architectural monument, fell in Pskov.

This was reported by the "Pskov province" with reference to the chairman of the Pskov regional branch of the All -Russian Society for the Protection of History and Culture Monuments (Vodopiik) Irina Golubev.

The lower floor of the house of the leader of the nobility on Romanov’s hill dates back to the 17th century, the upper one, the stone was erected in the 19th century. “This is a rather rare combination among the preserved Pskov monuments,” says Irina Golubeva.

The initial history of the house and its owners are unknown. At the beginning of the 18th century, the chamberlain of the Pskov province, Alexei Yakhontov, bought a house on Romanov Gorka from Count Peter Apraksin, in 1824 it was bought by the Pskov city society for the provincial leader of the nobility.

After the October Revolution - until 1951 - the building was occupied by the People’s Court. In the 1960s, it was used under the hostel of the cultural education, later it housed the Pskov Regional Philharmonic.

Now the cultural heritage object is located in the treasury of the Russian Federation, a lease agreement with the last user (Pskov Electrosvar plant) was terminated more than a year ago, since the user did not fulfill the obligations to preserve the monument.
