Sobyanin: PWC recognized Moscow as the most dynamically developing metropolis in the world

Moscow became a leader among the seven most dynamically developing megacities in the world. The mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin reported this during a plenary interview as part of the Moscow Urban Forum.

“It is difficult and not necessary to compare Moscow with the city of Paris. Moscow is a developing city, and it is better to compare it with developing cities. I am grateful to our colleagues from PWC, who have been conducting research on developing cities for several years. We always entered the three cities. Last year, we ranked second, and this year we took the first place among the developing largest megacities in the world. This is a great achievement of our entire team and Muscovites, ”the mayor said.

According to the results of last year, Moscow became the leader of the annual rating of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, for the first time ahead of Beijing. Seven cities take part in the study: Moscow, Mexico City, San Paulo, Mumbai, Istanbul, Beijing, Jakarta. Each of these cities is the most important strategic center that performs the functions of the financial and commercial capital of the state.

As part of the forum, Moscow once again gathers on one site of recognized world experts in the field of urbanism, urban planning, architecture and related disciplines, as well as representatives of authorities, business structures, investors, developers. About 9,000 people confirmed their participation. Among them are the mayors and representatives of the authorities of different cities of the world (Berlin, London, Barcelona, ​​Ny York, Tel Aviv, Riga, Beijing, Oslo, Budapest, etc.), famous architects and urbanists (Antonio Belvedere, Katalin Gallas, Kengo Kuma, Pyotr Lorenz, Hugo Primus), representatives international companies - leaders, engineers, developers.

This year, the format of sessions will change-the forum leaves the format of long plenary meetings and round tables and transforms them into shorter and more lively 45-minute performances. Due to these changes this year, about 70 different sessions are planned, which will expand the spectrum of issues considered at the forum. If in past years the forum was mainly held in the form of panel discussions, now the priority is given to the format of “brainstorms”.

The forum takes place for the first time in the summer. According to the organizers, this will allow guests of the city live to see how projects are being implemented to change urban spaces and get to know Moscow better. The festival program will be carried out not only in the arena itself, but also on various open areas - on streets, in squares, parks.

One of the parts of the forum this year will be a multimedia exhibition at which key projects that are being implemented in Moscow will be presented: MKZHI, the My Street project, Luzhniki stadium, and the reconstruction of the Moscow River.
