Pavel Astakhov admitted that he filed a resignation from the post of authorized person under the President of Russia. It is reported by RBC.
“Yesterday, after a very serious conversation, I filed an application, but the president will make a decision,” Astakhov told the correspondent of the RBC television channel.
On the eve of RBC with reference to several “close to the Kremlin” sources, he reported the upcoming resignation of the children's ombudsman. The interlocutors of the publication said that recently there have been many complaints about Astakhov’s activities. In particular, they mentioned the official’s replica "Well, what, how did you swim?" , addressed to children who got into a catastrophe on Syamozer in Karelia, and a statement about the "27-year-old wrinkled women" , made against the backdrop of a scandal with the marriage of a 57-year-old Chechen police officer for a 17-year-old schoolgirl.
One of the sources noted that the petition to Vladimir Putin with a request for the dismissal of Astakhov, placed last week on the Charge.org platform, scored over 150 thousand signatures.
Meanwhile, Life employee Anastasia Kashevarova said that claims to Astakhova were a “corruption nature”. According to Kashevarova, the President’s Office for Combating Corruption found that "Astakhov has a conflict of interests" and "he was flooded through his son’s company there."
Later, the source of RBC in the Presidential Administration confirmed that the Kremlin anti -corruption administration "had questions" to the children's ombudsman.
On Thursday, Astakhov adviser on information policy Renat Abdeev did not confirm the resignation of his boss. “Now Pavel Astakhov is at an event in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the president,” he said. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that the decree on the dismissal of Astakhov did not sign, and he did not see the official’s statements about the resignation.
The 49-year-old Astakhov, a graduate of the Higher School of the KGB, served as a children's ombudsman since 2009. In 2012-2013, he played a key role in the PR provision of the Law of Plotsya, which prohibited the adoption of Russian children with US citizens, and the international scandal around the death of 3-year-old Max Shatto (Maxim Kuzmin), adopted by the Americans. He repeatedly acted with the accusations of foreigners of violence against children adopted in Russia.
In February 2013, Astakhov stated at a press conference that his resignations were mostly achieved by pedophiles , since no one did as much as he was to fight them.
“Those who write why Astakhov does not talk about the death of Russian children in their homeland, I will say: my friends, you are either blind or stupid,” the official also remarked.
