The authorities of the Turkish city of Kemer, popular among tourists, offered to give the house a family of the deceased Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov, who commanded the Su-24, who was shot down by Turkish fighters in November 2015. However, the pilot's family abandoned the proposal.

According to Haberturk , the Consul General of Russia in Antalya, Alexander Tolstopyatenko, confirmed that the municipality of the Turkish resort really spoke with a similar initiative.

"On the eve, I adopted the delegation of the Cemete City Hall, led by its leader Mustafa Gul. The authorities of this city announced the desire to give the house to the family of the deceased pilot," the diplomat said. So far, the decision on this issue has not yet been made.

Later, in an interview with the radio station , Moscow says the brother of the deceased pilot Pavel said that no one was going to accept compensation from the Turkish authorities.

“No, of course, this is nonsense, no one is preparing any petitions for Turkey with requests for compensation. Will we really ask for any compensation now? And this is not in his thoughts. Even if they offer compensation, no one will take it. This is not only humiliating,” said Pavel Peshkov.

At the beginning of the week, the press secretary of the Turkish President Ibrahim Kalyn said that Ankara was ready to consider the issue of compensation for his own pilot. According to him, the Turkish side is ready to take steps in order to "soften the pain of the Family" pilot. Kalyn clarified that the authorities will consider such a request in case of receipt of Peshkov from relatives.

It is worth noting that the relations of Russia and Turkey began to improve after the conversation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the Russian leader. On June 30, speaking at a meeting of ambassadors at the Russian Foreign Ministry, President Vladimir Putin announced a quick restoration of Russian-Turkish relations. At the same time, the head of state, contrary to the previously made statement by Ankara, noted that Türkiye apologized for the downed Russian Su-24 bomber.

“It is also known that Ankara apologized for the downed Russian bomber,” the President of the Russian Federation said. “With this in mind, we mean measures to restore bilateral cooperation in the near future,” Putin summed up.

It is worth noting that the Kremlin, meanwhile, does not provide information about whether Putin and Erdogan were discussing the issue of compensation for the shot down Russian Su-24. For two days, Turkish Prime Minister said that Ankara was not going to compensate for the damage.
