People on the waiting list who wanted to go on a hunger strike were detained at the United Russia reception in Moscow

Near the United Russia reception building in Banny Lane on Friday afternoon, police detained 14 representatives of the Moscow Waiting Line movement, OVD-Info reports. People came to protest that they could not get apartments for a long time, and were going to go on a hunger strike right at the reception.

As OVD-Info clarifies, the detainees are mostly women. Among them are mothers of many children.

According to one of the detainees, they managed to give an interview to journalists, after which they sat on a rug near the reception building, without interfering with the passage of people. They sat there for about an hour, and then the police detained them without explaining the reasons.

As “Moscow Waiters” point out in their press release, over the past two years, only 1,741 residential premises have been issued to those on the waiting list under all city programs, although 600 thousand square meters are built annually in the capital using budget money. meters of housing with a volume of about 10 thousand apartments. Those on the waiting list consider this to be “minuscule.” According to them, everything became more complicated after the State Duma adopted amendments allowing municipal authorities to sell housing built with budget money - which is what the Moscow mayor's office did.

Meanwhile, as the capital's waiting lists report, today there are more than 80 thousand Moscow families (more than 300,000 people) on the queue, including disabled people and citizens with large families. At the current rate of housing delivery, many of them will receive the apartments they are entitled to by law in 90 years, the press release notes.

Let us recall that in 2013, the Moscow authorities announced that more than 90% of the housing being built at the expense of the Moscow budget in the next three years is planned to be given to those displaced from the “Khrushchev” , and others in need will be provided with square meters on a residual basis.
