Winberg opera idiot was first put in Mariinka

On Wednesday, July 6, in the concert hall of the Mariinsky Theater, the premiere of the opera of Moses Weinberg “Idiot” based on the novel by Dostoevsky will take place.

The director-winner-Alexey Stepanyuk, conductor is one of the initiators of the production of the opera idiot-Thomas Zanderling. The play will be attended by soloists of the opera troupe and the Academy of young opera singers of the Mariinsky Theater.

“This performance will literally breathe an era in which Dostoevsky lived,” says Larisa Gergieva, artistic director of the Academy of the Academy of Young Opera Singers of the Mariinsky Theater.

"Idiot" - the last opera of Moses Weinberg (1919–1996), the essay was completed in 1986. The world premiere of the abbreviated version of the opera took place in 1991 at the Chamber Music Theater in Moscow, the full version was first presented on May 9, 2013 at the National Theater of Mannieling.

For February 2017, the premiere of the "Idiot" at the Bolshoi Theater in the production of Evgeny Arya is planned .
