The Winery will talk about the aesthetic aspects of decolonial thought

On July 11, in the Center for Contemporary Art “Vincuvod” in Moscow, as part of the “Philosophical Club”, a lecture “Postcolonial state and decolonial choice: aesthetic aspects of decolonial thought” will be held.

Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor of post-colonial feminism of the Department of Gender Studies of the University of Lyncheeping Madina Tloostanov and founder and member of the working group of the International Festival of Activist Arts “Media, Tatyana Volkova will present the main elements of the ethical and aesthetic model of decolonial turning.

The lecture will present a decolonial view of such issues characteristic of most aesthetic models as the relationship of rational and affective, the role of art in the production of knowledge, a polemic of alternativeness and transmoderity, the place of bodily as a direct source and aesthetic tool, rethinking the category of the beautiful, the mechanisms of the decolonial elevated and the way of creating the decolonial “community of meaning and feelings”, Forms of decolonization of the museum as an institution for the production and planting of certain models of knowledge.

These and other issues will be considered by the example of an analysis of a number of works of contemporary art, cinema and literature.
