Russia is becoming a leading exporter of agricultural products, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
“Russia successfully conquers the status of a large supplier in the global food market,” Interfax quotes the head of government.
According to Medvedev, "these results were achieved thanks to the support of the agricultural industry by the state."
State financing is necessary so that "the agrarian sector can make a reversal from import to export [...] so that consumers in Russia and abroad without hesitation are chosen by Russian products."
At the same time, as the prime minister added , Russia in the off -season is provided with its own vegetables by only 50%, fruits - by 33%. In addition, according to Medvedev, Russian manufacturers of dairy products give 80% of the desired volume.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev, in turn, noted that 215 billion rubles allocated from the budget in 2016 are not enough for the agricultural complex to “achieve the goals for accelerated import substitution”, in addition, the production of agricultural products may even be reduced.
