All defendants in the Domodedovo explosion case have been released

The former head of the Russian representative office of Airport Management Company Limited, Svetlana Trishina, accused in the case of a terrorist attack at Domodedovo Airport, has been released from house arrest.

“The investigator granted the defense’s request, changing Svetlana Trishina’s preventive measure from house arrest to a written undertaking not to leave,” said lawyer Olga Mokridina.

Other defendants in the case, including Domodedovo owner Dmitry Kamenshchik , were released on July 1.

In addition to Kamenshchik and Trishina, the defendants in the case of violation of security requirements at Domodedovo Airport are the former director of the airport, Vyacheslav Nekrasov, and aviation security manager Andrei Danilov.

• The explosion at Domodedovo Airport occurred on January 24, 2011. As a result, 37 people died, more than 170 were injured.
• At the beginning of 2016, the Investigative Committee charged the owner of Domodedovo, Dmitry Kamenshchik, and three top managers of the airport under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Performance of work or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, negligently resulting in the death of two or more persons”). According to the investigation, the airport management did not provide the proper level of security.
• The Prosecutor General's Office insists on the re-qualification of the charges and the termination of the criminal prosecution of the accused due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. On July 6, it became known that the department sent a request to the Investigative Committee to dismiss the case.
• In May, the management of Domodedovo and representatives of the victims of the terrorist attack entered into an agreement on the payment of compensation.
