Stephen Sodelberg will make a film about the Panamanian offshore scandal

American director Stephen Soderberg is going to make a film about an offshore scandal associated with the publication of Panama Documents, reports The Hollywood Reporter .

The script for the picture will be written by Scott Burns, with whom Soderberg worked on the films "Informant!" (2009) and "side effect" (2013). Lawrence Gray and Michael Shuga will become the producers of the project along with Sodaberg.

The project will be based on the book of the World Secrets, which was being prepared for the publication, journalist Jake Bernstein, who helped to publish more than 11 million documents related to the Panama scandal. In the book, Bernstein tells how rich and influential representatives of the world elite used the services of the Panama Law Firm Mossack Fonseca.

As expected, in the book of Bernstein there will be new information about the financial frauds of representatives of the political elite and famous people, as well as the illegal activities of the largest banks in the world. The author reveals details about the role of American companies and US citizens in scandal, and also shows how a group of journalists from different countries prepared for the publication "Panama Documents".

A large -scale offshore investigation was conducted by several publications and organizations, including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), International Consortium of Investigation Journalists (ICIJ), The Guardian, "New Gazeta".
