On July 7, Vladimir Putin signed the resonant "Yarovaya Package" , significantly toughening punishment under various articles on extremism and terrorism. This was announced by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Pesov, writes TASS. The Human Rights Council, business ombudsman Boris Titov, mobile operators asked not to do this. Opponents of tough amendments even created a petition against the Yarovaya package. To date, over 89,000 people have signed it.
The documents were approved by the State Duma on June 24 and approved by the Federation Council on June 29. The bills will come into force on July 20, 2016.
