2006 Disaster at Irkutsk airport

Ten years ago, on July 9, 2006, at the Irkutsk airport, as a result of the crash of an Airbus A310 aircraft of Siberia Airlines flying from Moscow, 125 people out of 203 on board were killed. The investigation showed that the aircraft was thrown off the runway by the left engine, which suddenly went into takeoff mode at the moment the right engine was reversed. The cause of the disaster was called "erroneous and uncontrolled actions of the crew during the run after landing the aircraft in a configuration with a deactivated thrust reverser of one engine." The criminal case was dismissed due to the death of the alleged perpetrators - crew commander Sergei Shibanov and co-pilot Vladimir Chernykh.
